How often should I change my Activated Carbon Air Filter?
Activated Carbon Air Filters are not really rated for a particular amount of time (such as 90 days) like other pleated filters. They will continue to do the job of protecting your equipment and capturing particles for the same amount of time as a Standard Pleated filter in the same size.
However, Activated Carbon filters are
primarily used for the purpose of removing strong and offensive odors. There are tiny pores in the Carbon material that are activated when exposed to the air. The odor particles are collected in these pores. Once they are full, the filter will lose its ability to remove odors from the air.
So, when you begin to notice that the filter is no longer effective at removing odors, it will need to be changed.
