Dust Mite Screen Check

Dust Mites are reported as one of the most prevalent indoor allergens.  These microscopic insects infest our bedding, carpeting, and furniture.  They can survive in most climates, but thrive and multiply best in warm and humid environments.  Since they feed off of dead skin flakes and dander, they make their homes easily anywhere people and animals live.  The dust mites themselves are a concern as they are the source of the allergen, but it is actually the proteins (DERp1) in their waste and body fragments that cause the most discomfort as these are highly allergenic.

 

Testing Process:  Your test kit will be mailed to you and will include the entire tool for collecting a solid dust sample.  Once you complete the test, you will return it to the lab using the postage-paid envelope provided.  Your results will be provided by email in a PDF format in 3-5 business days after the lab receives your test.

 

 

Your Results:  EDLab (Environmental Diagonostics Laboratory), accredited by the AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association), will provide a final report included in the cost of the test.  The report will show the concentration level of dermatophagoides and will have guidelines for what is considered to be a normal, manageable level.  A toll-free phone number for the lab is provided if you should have any questions concerning your results.
