Overview
- Identifies & Provides concentration levels for Fiberglass
- Quick & easy to use collection device for 1 sampling location
- Includes accredited lab analysis for Fiberglass
- Results emailed in PDF format in 3-5 days
Fiberglass is mostly used in insulation material. It is classified as an irritant, causing potentially serious and harmful health issues. Fiberglass can make its way into your indoor air through holes in air ducts, exposed insulation in walls and ceilings, or from deteriorated liners in air handler units. Fiberglass particles will eventually settle on surfaces, collecting as dust that is shiny in appearance.
Common symptoms associated with elevated levels of Fiberglass:
- Sneezing/Coughing
- Eye/Throat Irritation
- Respiratory Issues
- Sinus Headache
Testing Process: Your test kit will be mailed to you along with everything needed for the testing process. Once you complete the test, you will return it to the lab using the postage-paid envelope provided. Your results will be provided by email in a PDF format in 3-5 business days after the lab receives your test.
Your Results: EDLab (Environmental Diagonostics Laboratory), accredited by the AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association), will provide a final report included in the cost of the test. The report will provide identification and concentration levels of fiberglass and will have guidelines for what is considered to be a normal, manageable level. A toll-free phone number for the lab is provided if you should have any questions concerning your results.
Components of Lab Report:
- Laboratory analysis results of identified fiberglass particles
- Descriptions of each particle type identified
- Color bar graphs
- Healthy Home/Building reference sheet with options to consider
Step 1- Remove plastic case containing the test strip from the envelope. Open tamper-resistant seal with scissors.
Step 2 - Remove test strip from plastic case. Select surface area to be sampled.
Step 3 - Holding left side of test strip, peel away the white backing to expose adhesive side of test strip. Do not touch the adhesive portion of the strip.
Step 4 - Holding the test strip as shown, gently press onto surface to be sampled.
Step 5 - Reseal test strip back onto white backing.
Step 6 - Put test strip back into plastic case. Complete Chain of Custody form using only BLACK INK. Remember to record sampling location and which surface the sample was taken from.
Example: location - living room/surface - bookcase.
Step 7 - Place sample and Chain of Custody form into postage-paid envelope and mail to lab for analysis.
