Mold is a rapidly growing fungus that can be found in just about any environment. Mold can thrive in areas that are dark and damp and the levels of concentration can become problematic. Seeing mold growth, smelling a musty odor, or the presence of water stains are indicators of mold growth.
Unfortunately, mold cannot always be seen. It can hide in walls, behind furniture, and in other remote places. Wherever mold grows, it is also present in the air. Inhaling mold spores can trigger an allergic response for those with asthma and chronic allergies. Mold can have adverse effects on anyone, with or without allergies.
With this kit, you can effectively screen your home for the presence of mold, both allergenic and toxic in nature, from strategic sampling surfaces.
Common Symptoms Associated With Mold Issues
- Coughing/Sneezing
- Tightness of Chest
- Respiratory Issues
- Headache
- Fatigue/Lethargy
- Flu-like symptoms
- Eye Irritation
Testing Process: Your test kit will be mailed to you along with everything needed for the testing process. Once you complete the test, you will return it to the lab using the postage-paid envelope provided. Your results will be provided by email in a PDF format in 3-5 business days after the lab receives your test.
Your Results: EDLab (Environmental Diagonostics Laboratory), accredited by the AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association), will provide a final report included in the cost of the test. The report will show detailed information on the genus level of each mold type identified and will have guidelines for what is considered to be a normal, manageable level. A toll-free phone number for the lab is provided if you should have any questions concerning your results.
Components of Lab Report:
- Laboratory analysis results of identified molds
- Information on the genus level of each mold type identified
- Laboratory analysis color bar graph charts
- Healthy Home/Building reference sheet with options to consider
Step 1- Remove plastic case containing the test strip from the envelope. Open tamper-resistant seal with scissors.
Step 2 - Remove test strip from plastic case. Select surface area to be sampled.
Step 3 - Holding left side of test strip, peel away the white backing to expose adhesive side of test strip. Do not touch the adhesive portion of the strip.
Step 4 - Holding the test strip as shown, gently press onto surface to be sampled.
Step 5 - Reseal test strip back onto white backing.
Step 6 - Put test strip back into plastic case. Complete Chain of Custody form using only BLACK INK. Remember to record sampling location and which surface the sample was taken from.
Example: location - basement/surface - wall.
Step 7 - Place sample and Chain of Custody form into postage-paid envelope and mail to lab for analysis.
