Mycotoxins are toxic chemicals produced by certain fungi. Through ingestion, contact, or inhalation, they are capable of adversely affecting health and may disrupt essential metabolic cellular processes. Some Mycotoxins are potent carcinogens, some are vasoactive, and some penetrate the blood-brain barrier to cause Central Nervous System effect. Knowing the extent of Mycotoxin contamination is essential in taking action to reduce exposure to these toxins and their effects.
Testing Process: Your test kit will be mailed to you along with everything needed for the testing process. Once you complete the test, you will return it to the lab using the postage-paid envelope provided. Your results will be emailed in PDF format in 10-14 business days after the lab receives your test.
*** At least 1 gram (1 Tablespoon) of solid dust collection is needed for analysis.
*** This kit is designed to collect dust from carpeting, so it will be best not to vacuum the floor too closely to the testing date
*** Even if you do not have carpeted flooring, you can still collect dust from almost any surface as long as there is enough dust available for sampling.
*** This test uses a cone-shaped filter device called the Bio-Scan Dust Sock, which is to be connected to the intake end of your vacuum cleaner hose for sampling.
Your Results: The EDLab (Environmental Diagonostics Laboratory), accredited by the AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association), at Pure Air Control Services will provide a final report included in the cost of the test. Mycotoxin (Trichothecenes) concentration results are expressed in parts per billion (ppb). A toll-free phone number for the lab is provided if you should have any questions concerning your results.
