Odors, discoloration, and ghosting effects can result when carbon black and combustion by-products (carbonized material) are deposited on interior surfaces. Proof of these conditions may be required by property insurance companies prior to addressing claims. Proof can be obtained with the Smoke Particulate Screen Check.
Proof of these conditions may be required for:
- Evidence by property insurance companies prior to repairs
- Determining whether or not health-based concerns exist
- Development of baseline conditions prior to repairs
Testing Process: Your test kit will be mailed to you along with everything needed for the testing process. Once you complete the test, you will return it to the lab using the postage-paid envelope provided. Your results will be provided by email in a PDF format in 3-5 business days after the lab receives your test.
Your Results: EDLab (Environmental Diagonostics Laboratory), accredited by the AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association), will provide a final report included in the cost of the test. The report will show information for smoke/black deposition particulates identified and will have guidelines for what is considered to be a normal, manageable level. A toll-free phone number for the lab is provided if you should have any questions concerning your results.
